Kom ons gesels saam....
This is only a start in making a list of some of the most important needs in the Mozambican Church. This will help outreach groups and others in planning. If I talk about church is is wider than the denominations.
I am in contact with the church on the needs and some are from them, but will update as they communicate about it. Any input, especially from missionaries, will also be highly valued.
Real understanding of salvation is a big need. Most members of the church struggle to know what Christianity is and what Church should be. Therefore I think the need is to experience something of Biblical service in the communities. Things like working in an garden of an elderly person to help that family to provide for the next year. Or just visiting people with or without need in the communities to listen to them and show them that they are important in Gods kingdom. Or talking about what the meaning of the Bible is for members. Not one teaching and others listening, but sharing. Talking about families, hear how things happen in the traditional way of doing and then sharing how others do in South-Africa and together see what God intends a marriage to be.
There are the need to learn English. There are a lack of translators and communication with the outside world.
There are the need of understanding Biblical leadership. Again not a need for teachings from people of another culture, but sharing the traditional ways and hear what others in South-Africa do and then discovering together about leadership in the Bible. Both sides can prepare and than ask questions to one another and share our understandings of what Gods intentions are.
Many Mozambicans are very dependent and always look for ways where others can help them. For me there is a need to discover the potential that God has given people so that they can start to work together and find solutions for own problems and understand how to start development. Share on how things work in South-Africa, hear how things work in Mozambique and then find Gods intentions for Mozambique. Things like buying seed together in big quantities so that the price can be better in stead of everyone buying his own without any power of talking about price. Also in selling the products, how do they do traditionally, hear from others and may be find a way for communities to work together and sell their maize in big quantities and in that way be able to find better transport and therefore everyone can get more for his maize and struggle less to find transport.
There is the need of understanding medical conditions. Understand the traditional way of thinking and compare it with a South-African way of thinking and then find Gods intentions and plans for a better future. How to use what is available to prevent illnesses and treat illnesses. How to talk to the government about needs and how to prevent corruption and own interest. Understanding that God has given us the power to make a difference.
In many of these things the need is to understand better, know your own potential in God and work together to make a difference. I think that South-Africans can help in these needs with sharing their understanding. Not as teachers, but as equals before God, treating others more important than yourself.
There is also a need for the church to have better training of their youth in all these things.
Women also have the need to know that they are also important in the process.
There are also a need for everyone so see people dependent on God. Together look at God kneeling before him in all of these activities.
There is a need for developing a biblical stewardship lifestyle.
There is a need for helping the agricultural initiatives of the church to be even more based on biblical stewardship en principles. For development in irrigation working with animals and better horticulture. The values behind it, is the biggest need. The church need to understand how to serve communities with these projects.
There is a big need for literacy and on top of that knowledge of many of the different sciences.
The need is not so big in making money, but in developing people. In it you need money but only as a tool.
There is a need of liberation of fear for people and the spiritual world.
There is a need for a biblical value system that will help people to fight own interest desires and honor. We need to help one another to die in ourselves. This is in South-Africa and Mozambique. Together we may be able to help one another.
There is a big need for expansion of these value systems and holistic ministry of the church to so many unreached groups.
